BEI provides subsurface services ranging from assessment of groundwater and soil quality to developing cleanup methodologies. Our staff routinely provides state-of-the-art techniques to subsurface projects, including monitoring, modeling, vadose zone characterization, and water supply development.

Monitoring

BEI hydrogeologists design and implement monitoring programs for defining the extent of impact to soil and groundwater. Services provided include the following: (1) design of programs to optimize data collection and manipulate data for reporting purposes; (2) installation of soil borings and monitoring wells; (3) soil and groundwater quality sampling; (4) aquifer permeability testing and data analysis; (5) interpretation of chemical and biological analytical results; (6) establishment of reliable computer database networks for storing and retrieving information, and (7) regulatory negotiations. BEI has the experience necessary to efficiently design and install monitoring systems for adequate and thorough site characterization. We consider the monitoring program the single-most critical aspect of an environmental assessment/remediation project.

Modeling

The firm is capable of quantitative analysis of complex aquifer systems and the migration of chemical constituents in the subsurface. BEI performs modeling of diverse hydrogeologic settings and uses state-of-the-art computer technologies and programs. Models are routinely used as a predictive tool for groundwater contaminant migration.

Vadose Zone Characterization

In the past few years, the role of contaminants in the vadose zone and their contribution to groundwater contamination has been thoroughly documented. BEI understands the importance of properly characterizing the vadose zone in many hydrogeologic settings. We provide the following services: (1) soil boring installation; (2) soil vapor sampling; (3) soil permeability testing and data analysis; and (4) interpretation of chemical analytical results.

Water Supply Development

Services provided include: (1) design and installation of aquifer testing programs; (2) evaluation of aquifer pumping test data; (3) groundwater flow modeling for predicting long-term supplies; (4) supervision of production well installation; and (5) system design and start-up services.
