BEI performs Remediation activities using our experience with evaluating the hydrogeologic settings, the nature of the contaminants, and the regulatory framework applicable to the project. Because remediation typically requires regulatory approval of not only the remediation plans, but also the final cleanup, a successful site remediation requires an understanding of the regulations and close coordination with regulatory agencies. The majority of moneys for environmental projects is expended during remediation. Therefore, BEI's knowledge of remediation techniques and experience in coordinating with regulatory agencies results in cost-effective remediation for our clients. Remediation Design BEI hydrogeologists and engineers have extensive experience in evaluating site conditions relative to the hydrogeologic settings. Understanding the hydrogeology at a site, along with the contaminant fate and transport in those settings, is critical in developing the most efficient and cost-effective remediation program. Contract Documents Preparation Competitive bidding ensures reasonable project completion costs. Changing conditions often open the door for additions to work scope, resulting in remediation cost increases. BEI will produce remediation documents outlining the scope of work and providing for unit adjustment pricing for change in contract scope to assist in control of project costs. Remediation Management BEI performs Remediation Management using traditional construction management tools for compliance, cost control, and schedule control of contract work. The remediation work is monitored and controlled by effective administration of the contractor utilizing contract documents and agreements. Progress reporting and regular inspections provides the owner with appropriate updates on stage of completion and various conditions associated with the site. Compliance and Cost Assurance Compliance with applicable laws is the driving factor behind site remediation. BEI's goals are to ensure compliance, reduce liabilities, and provide documentation that all work has been completed and reviewed/approved by regulators. Since only results, and not costs, are relevant to enforcement personnel, BEI applies its construction knowledge and familiarity with the regulatory process to get the job done at minimum cost to the owner by using reliable accepted methods for remediation based on specific site conditions. BEI will also assist clients in negotiating reasonable completion schedules with regulatory agencies. |
