BEI is capable of investigation and remediation of environmental problems associated with the production, refining, transportation, storage and distribution of petroleum products and related hydrocarbon compounds. BEI provides comprehensive assessment, containment, and remediation design services for both surface and subsurface hydrocarbon releases, including underground storage tanks. Assessment BEI hydrogeologists perform all surface and subsurface investigations essential in defining the extent and magnitude of releases of petroleum hydrocarbons. Services provided include: (1) installation of monitoring wells; (2) performing soil borings; (3) air, soil, and water quality sampling; (4) aquifer and soil permeability testing; (5) interpretation of soil, groundwater, and free-product chemical analytical results; (6) consultation on regulations and negotiations with regulatory agencies; and (7) report preparation. We routinely perform surveys of sensitive receptors near the site to determine the level of concern associated with the release of petroleum hydrocarbons. BEI also provides oversight services for tank integrity testing and tank removal and replacement. Compliance Hydrocarbon assessment and remediation requirements are subject to a wide variety of federal, state and local laws. BEI's staff has extensive experience in understanding and interpreting the regulations to assure cost-effective compliance for our clients. BEI will assist clients in complying with requirements for State reimbursement programs. Our objective is to bring the program into compliance with applicable regulations at the least possible cost to our clients. Remediation Design BEI staff will perform remediation design services optimizing site remediation while conforming to applicable regulations. Services include design of systems for recovery, treatment, and disposal of free product, soils, and groundwater. We design groundwater pump-and-treat, soil vapor extraction and treatment, and bioremediation systems as either separate or as combined technologies for site remediation. In-situ remediation of soils will be evaluated in each case to limit our client's liability associated with excavating and performing ex-situ treatment or hauling contaminated soils to landfill facilities. BEI provides oversight services for system installation and operation and maintenance. If the client requests, we will provide their personnel with training and manuals to maintain system operation throughout the remediation project. BEI registered engineers will provide complete documents and will manage all aspects of the activities, from developing remedial action plans to obtaining bids to assuring site activities are performed in a manner consistent with OSHA Health and Safety requirements. |
