Increasing government regulation creates uncertainty for business and industry regarding compliance with new laws. BEI can develop an Environmental Management Database System for organizing data essential for compliance, including chemical inventory data, detailing hazard communication and emergency response procedures, accessing regulations and records of facility personnel, managing remedial contracts, and other general information necessary for compliance. The use of such systems is recognized by the EPA and other regulatory agencies as being beneficial in audit processes and in proving due diligence relative to record maintenance. A thorough review of facility records can identify compliance issues and deficiencies that will alert owners before regulatory agencies audits. Cost analysis can be performed and programs put into effect to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Environmental Risk Analysis Environmental regulations now require owners of facilities to evaluate their operations and their associated effect on human health and the environment. A preliminary risk analysis study can be accomplished before a complete compliance audit to alert owners to potential risks. BEI will evaluate operations and facility units to determine if those operations or units are subject to regulatory authority. BEI will review all pertinent data and determine which regulations apply to the facility. This risk analysis provides a mean for assessing the potential costs for reporting, remediation, and compliance, allowing accurate budgeting for bringing a site into compliance. RCRA RFI Assessments BEI staff performs comprehensive RCRA Facility Investigation (RFI) reviews and assessments of our client's facilities to determine areas of operations that may fall under RCRA regulations. The initial step to review a facility position can result in an educational process not only for the owner, but more importantly for the regulatory agency enforcing various laws. Site Investigations and Response When are site investigations required? How does one go about conducting a site investigation? What clean-up levels are acceptable? How should one prepare for an EPA audit? These and many other questions are typical in cases involving sites with operations that create hazardous wastes and/or have potential releases. BEI assists clients in answering these questions by providing proper site investigation that is instrumental in ascertaining levels of contaminants. |
