SOLAR ENERGY BASCOR has recently begun working to develop alternative energy with both Private and municipal entities. We have entered into a working relationship with one of the largest solar corporations in the world, and are bringing solar energy closer to reality in portions of the SW United States. We concentrate primarily on PV solar and work on Utility Grade installations. Our staff is currently working on a 2 MW ground mount single tracker system for a small municipality in New Mexico to supplement their power supply. The duties for staff include planning the location of the proposed plant to allow interconnection to the existing grid; working with State Finance Authority to develop a financing approach allowing the City to service the debt associated with the capital cost of the system; coordination of stakeholders to prepare for distribution and sale of the excess power from the plant; working with the Federal Government entity to research sale of carbon credits and alternative energy credits to interested entities; preparing land transfer to reduce or eliminate the land cost; coordination of future research of the plant site with State Educational systems for education and training; and working with the municipal government to analyze impacts of the plant. BASCOR staff is also working with a major corporation to place a PV Solar plant on a brown field site utilizing a State program for liability reduction allowed for alternative energy generation projects on contaminated property. The application of solar generation will allow the corporation to utilize the power from the plant, and take advantage of the State programs for end use of the site. We are currently in the design and layout stage for a solar street light project in Northwest Indiana. Even though solar availability is limited in thhe mid west, new technology and battery storage will allow for a reasonable pilot project. As our projects are started, and confidentially agreements allow, we will post progress status.
